OVELL Pulsation Dampeners NZ
OVELL pulsation dampeners reduce flow and pressure fluctuations generated by reciprocating pumps, including metering, plunger and diaphragm pumps. The range includes diaphragm, air-bag and air-chamber constructions for different dosing-system arrangements.
By cushioning the liquid delivered during each stroke, a dampener helps reduce pipeline vibration and repeated pressure loading on fittings and connected instruments.
Diaphragm Dampeners with a Pre-Charged Gas Cushion
The OVMZ diaphragm design separates the process liquid from a pre-charged gas chamber. As liquid pressure rises, the gas compresses and the dampener accepts liquid. As pressure falls, the gas expands and returns liquid to the line.
The brochure specifies nitrogen or argon for pre-charging. Charge pressure must be set for the particular installation and operating conditions.
Diaphragm, Air-Bag and Air-Chamber Capacities
- OVMZ diaphragm dampeners: listed capacities from 0.35 L to 4 L.
- OVMQ air-bag dampeners: listed capacities from 0.35 L to 5 L, with UPVC bodies.
- OVMK air-chamber dampeners: listed capacities from 0.6 L to 10 L, with UPVC construction.
These are different dampener constructions with separate model dimensions and installation requirements. Their capacities should not be treated as directly interchangeable between designs.
Body Materials and Dosing-Line Integration
Diaphragm dampener body materials listed in the brochure include UPVC, PP, PVDF, PC and 304 stainless steel, with FPM and PTFE diaphragm materials. Chemical use depends on compatibility with the selected wetted materials.
A dampener may be used alongside a back-pressure valve in a dosing installation: the dampener smooths pulsation, while the valve provides back pressure. Access around the dampener is required for charging, inspection and maintenance.
