Magnetic Drive Centrifugal Pumps
HD Process supplies magnetic drive centrifugal pumps for liquid transfer and circulation duties where leakage from a conventional mechanical shaft seal is undesirable. Instead of a drive shaft passing through the pump casing, torque is transmitted through a magnetic coupling, allowing the pump head to operate without a conventional mechanical shaft seal.
Available configurations include stainless steel magnetic drive pumps and chemically resistant plastic-head designs. The appropriate construction depends on the process fluid, temperature, required duty and compatibility of the wetted materials.
Stainless Steel and Chemical-Resistant Pump Constructions
Magnetic drive pumps can be selected with different wetted materials to suit the process. HD Process offers stainless steel configurations for compatible industrial and high-purity liquids, along with plastic-head pumps incorporating chemically resistant wetted components for more aggressive chemical duties.

How Seal-Less Magnetic Drive Pumps Operate
The magnetic coupling transfers motor torque to the impeller without requiring a conventional shaft penetration through the pump casing. Removing the mechanical shaft seal eliminates a common potential leakage and maintenance point, making the design particularly useful where fluid containment is important.
Selecting the Pump Material for the Process Fluid
Pump construction should be matched to the complete process duty rather than selected from the fluid name alone. Chemical concentration, operating temperature and compatibility with all wetted components should be considered alongside hydraulic requirements.
