Mobile Stands for Side-Entry Agitators
Mobile agitator stands provide a controlled way to lift, move and position side-entry agitators at process tanks. They can be used where an agitator is temporarily installed and transferred between compatible tanks rather than permanently mounted to one vessel.
The stand supports the agitator during insertion and mounting, helping reduce handling effort and limiting excessive loads on the tank fitting. The stand arrangement must suit the agitator, tank connection and required mounting position.
Supporting Agitator Insertion and Tank Mounting
A mobile stand helps align the agitator shaft with the tank connection before insertion. It also supports the weight of the agitator while the unit is being installed, operated or removed, depending on the selected stand and agitator arrangement.
- Assists with lifting and transporting the agitator
- Provides controlled alignment with the tank connection
- Supports the agitator during insertion and mounting
- Helps reduce excessive forces on the tank fitting
- Allows one compatible agitator to be moved between tanks
Side-Entry Agitator Positions for Different Tank Bottoms
The positioning diagram illustrates typical side-entry agitator locations for tanks with round, conical, sloping and flat bottoms. In each example, the agitator is mounted through the lower side wall so the impeller can establish circulation through the working volume while maintaining suitable clearance from the tank bottom and internal surfaces.
The required connection height and shaft angle vary with the tank geometry. A round or conical bottom may require a different mounting position from a sloping or flat-bottom tank. The diagram is a general positioning guide rather than a dimensioned installation drawing.
Stand and Installation Details to Confirm
Agitator and stand selection should account for the tank geometry, connection position and available operating space. Useful information includes:
- Tank diameter, height and normal liquid level
- Round, conical, sloping or flat-bottom construction
- Tank connection type, size, height and orientation
- Agitator dimensions and weight
- Required insertion and withdrawal clearance
- Number of tanks that will share the agitator
