DIN clamp connections use mating ferrules, a sealing gasket and an external retaining clamp. Their dimensions must be identified by the applicable series rather than by treating a DN designation as an equivalent inch Tri-Clover size.

DIN Nominal Sizes and Dimensional Series

HD Process dimensional references include several DIN 32676 series. The series matters because the same nominal designation can have different tube outside diameters and wall thicknesses.

For example, the published Series 1 table lists a DN 25 ferrule with a 28 mm tube outside diameter, 26 mm bore and 50.5 mm clamp-face diameter.

Why DIN and Inch Fittings Are Different

A DIN ferrule can share a clamp-face diameter with an inch fitting while having a different tube diameter and bore. A retaining clamp fitting around both faces therefore does not establish a correctly matched connection.

The mating ferrules and gasket need compatible dimensions to maintain the intended alignment and sealing arrangement.
